Lanaudière Health and Social Services Bilingual Human Resources Project

The overall objective of this project is to increase the number of health and social services professionals and intake personnel able to provide services in English. Specific targets are personnel of the CISSS de Lanaudière and the students of Joliette High School. The English Community Organization of Lanaudière (ECOL) wishes to increase the level of English-language competency of the health and social service workers, and to encourage high school students to consider careers in the health and social service field.

The project includes three areas of action:

Conduct informal “Lunch and Learn” conversation groups with health and social service workers so that they may practice their English-language skills in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere;

Introduce high school students to different career options in the health and social service field through direct contact with professionals and by providing existing documentation concerning health and social service careers to students over the same time frame;

 Promote and administer the Dialogue McGill Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program for the Lanaudière region and submit names to the Selection Committee.
