Dialogue McGill Conference Explores Building Bilingual Health Workforce Capacity

Dialogue McGill’s 2026 conference brought together over 100 participants from across the health and social services sector to explore strategies for building and sustaining a strong bilingual workforce in Quebec’s public system.

Held on February 3–4, 2026, and sponsored by Health Canada, the conference focused on the theme “Growing Capacity and Retaining Talent in Health and Social Services.” It gathered community organizations, policymakers, educators, researchers, and healthcare professionals to address ongoing workforce challenges.

Discussions highlighted key issues such as workforce shortages, the migration of professionals to the private sector, and barriers to providing services in both official languages. Participants also explored practical solutions, including improved recruitment, training, mentorship, and community engagement initiatives.

The event emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors to strengthen access to healthcare services in English and French, particularly for minority communities across Quebec.
