Community Retention Program in the Chaudière-Appalaches

Megantic English-speaking Community Development Corporation (MCDC) aims to work in close partnerships with several partners to foster an environment suitable to promote internships and careers in the health and social services sectors, as well as youth retention in the region of Chaudière-Appalaches for bilingual English-speaking students. More precisely MCDC aims:

1. Promote careers in health and social services to high school students and alumni;

2. Promote Dialogue McGill Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program.

3. Help interns and graduates find employment opportunities in the region;

4. Help health professionals to maintain their linguistic abilities and support knowledge transfer within the workplace.

The projects includes promotion activities with schools, active participation to various committees and initiatives related to local and regional employment, activities to facilitate the social integration of interns, collaboration with public health partners to encourage recruitment of interns and the promotion and management of the Dialogue McGill Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program.

More precisely:

1.  "Open Doors" activities for current high school students of A.S. Johnson High School Memorial in Thetford Mines; meetings with guest speakers and conferences with health professionals. Targeted e- mail to A.S. Johnson alumni, publications in the Down Home News bulletin and Facebook;

2.  Bursaries allocated every year through the Community Network Bursary Program;

3.  Meetings with partners (health and employment) every year and partnership with the Comité Emploi to help interns and graduates find employment opportunities in the region.
