New Frontiers: Expanding stage opportunities for bilingual specialized educators
This project aims to create meaningful stage opportunities for bilingual SET students in remote communities where English is a minority language.
The project manager will work to establish partnerships with local health, social services, and educational network agencies, expanding access to practical training experiences. Students participating in these stages will receive financial support to cover transportation costs associated with increased travel, ensuring that distance does not limit their learning opportunities.
Over the next three years, the project is expected to place approximately 20 students per academic year in a variety of health, social service, and educational institutions in remote regions. In addition to on-site placements, all students will participate in sensitization workshops that introduce them to regional stage possibilities and highlight opportunities for language and skill development.
These workshops prepare students to practice and enhance their language skills while engaging in professional settings, fostering both confidence and competence. By combining practical experience with targeted skill development, the project supports students in building a pathway to employment within the health and social services network in these underserved communities.
